چکیده

We study the performance of an opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) system with a general number of channels and imperfect spectrum sensing. The OSA system consists of a primary system serving primary users (PUs) and a secondary system serving secondary users (SUs). The PUs have strict priority over the SUs and the SUs opportunistically access the channels not occupied by the PUs temporarily. The system is modeled as a two-dimensional continuous-time Markov chain. We precisely specify the state-dependent transition rates due to imperfect sensing for the general channel number case by using simple recursive functions. Thus, efforts for exhaustively examining the explicit expressions for state transition rates are avoided. For performance metrics, we consider blocking probability, termination probability and success probability for each type of users. By the Markov model and carefully examining the spectrum sensing outcomes, the metrics may be easily derived. After obtaining the steady-state probability distribution, the required probabilities are numerically determined.

Opportunistic Spectrum Access in Imperfect Spectrum Sensing Cognitive Networks

—Spectrum sensing strategy is key to realize cognitive radio. However, spectrum sensing error would affect the access strategy of secondary users in cognitive networks. This paper addresses the spectrum sensing strategy under imperfect spectrum sensing, and proposes opportunistic spectrum access strategies for the imperfect spectrum sensing and fading channels respectively. By setting the opti...

Spectrum Sensing Data Falsification Attack in Cognitive Radio Networks: An Analytical Model for Evaluation and Mitigation of Performance Degradation

Cognitive Radio (CR) networks enable dynamic spectrum access and can significantly improve spectral efficiency. Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) exploits the spatial diversity between CR users to increase sensing accuracy. However, in a realistic scenario, the trustworthy of CSS is vulnerable to Spectrum Sensing Data Falsification (SSDF) attack. In an SSDF attack, some malicious CR users deli...

Analysis of opportunistic spectrum access in cognitive radio networks using hidden Markov model with state prediction

We propose a study using hidden Markov model (HMM) with state prediction for opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) in cognitive radio (CR) networks. The primary channels are assumed to be operating in a TDMA manner with synchronous time slots of equal length and alternating between idle and busy states. The secondary users (SUs) may use them when they are idle by channel sensing. In contrast to t...
